TRACY CLINICAL: With the rising costs of gas, it would be really great if we could carpool to clinical for the next 3 weeks. I would be happy to coordinate/schedule if any of you would like to participate. Please contact me either at school or email: rdeyoung585@students.deltacollege.edu.

Message for Robyn

I hope you get this...
Just wanted to let you know I got some nursing shoes tonight, so you don't need to bring your tomorrow. Thanks so much for the offer though!! Take care,

Physical Assessment Website

I found this site that might be helpful. Their assessment is a little more indepth but it does show some pretty neato pictures of abnormalities a nurse might see while performing the assessment.

Also there is a list of commonly used abbreviations that might be helpful!

See y'all at 1pm!

Study group???

I am looking to join a group, or start up a new one.

Any thoughts? Or groups that want another person?

Practice Docushare Questions

I noticed that all of the past docushare postings by Richard have been deleted. I am going to start going through my old files and try to find all of the practice tests that he had posted. I saved a lot of them in my documents folder. It will take me awhile to get them all done because they need cleaning up. These practice tests will give you a feel for the kind of questions Richard puts on his tests in N1 and N3. Many of the questions were used on his tests. I will be back dating all of them for April 13, 2005. Go to our website deltarnstudents.blogspot.com , click on the April 2005 archives, and scroll down to April 13. They will all be back to back. This will be the magic date for all past docushare practice tests. I will still repost them as links in the test practice post under their categories. Hope this helps.
Study Session Today Monday 5-6pm
See you there
Caralee
Hey guys its monday dont forget to take a look at the NCLEX question site and review this weeks question!
www.learningext.com
The Cd that came with the fundamentals of nursing is a great review and study tool. We paid for it so lets use. Review questions helps me focus on things that I missed or didn't pay close attention to the first time I read a chapter.
Take a look when you guys get a chance

Hi guys,
Does anyone recall if this was a test question??
Which of the following is an appropriate intervention to maintain the respiratory system of the immobilized client?
a) turn the client every 4 hours
b) maintain a maximum fluid intake of 1500ml per day
c) apply an abdominal binder continuously while in bed
d) Encourage the use of an incentive spirometer
I'm actually refering to the quiz we took on thursday
TEST PRACTICE
We have posted a lot of test practice questions since we started in the Spring. I am putting all of the links that have been posted so far for test practice, in one place. I want to get the tests organized so you can find them easier and retake later without having to look through all of the archives. You can use these to practice for your NCLEX too.

I will keep adding to this site as we go along through our semesters so that it will always be up to date. If you want me to, I can repost it, or a link each month so you can find it easier. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Any tests that you post, I will also copy the link and add it to this list. It is really handy to practice before tests to see what you know and what you need to study a little bit more for.
Bonnie

Hi Guys! If I read the posting by Richard correctly that $179.00 is for the package of "books" that we could load on our already pre-purchased PDA's. Go to the website for the program that Richard is promoting and check it out. I have to honestly say that Skyscape seems to have our actual books and for a reasonable price!
I think it would be great if Richard could spend a few moments clarifying what he uses and what he recommends for us to actually have on our PDA. I still have not bought anything as I am unsure of what I actually need. Those of you that have already bought things: What have you bought, in regards to programs for your PDA, and what do you think of them?
Mike,
Are we still meeting monday 2-4??? Here's a question for ya from infection control, chapt.33-Identify at least three factors that increase a hospitalized client's risk of acquiring a nosocomial infection. Its actually a study guide question pg 188

Saturday, August 27, 2005

Hi guys,
Has anyone getting their PDAs from Richard Sevilla?? The prices are reasonable compared to what I've been looking at on the internet. This whole PDA stuff is a bit overwhelming and confusing to me.....
Just a friendly remainder for Nur 3 students, don't forget to do chapt 13 from the Curren book. And from What I know, there is no exam on monday for Nur 3. Please correct me if I wrong.

Y'all need to check this out!

I found this link on the 2nd semester students blog...it is a great tool for the physical assessmenet exam! It has descriptions and pics too!

good luck!

EDITED: DUH! I guess I should post the link huh?! Sorry =o)

Mike,
Sounds like you got an "A" in the Nursing Process. For those who still what more assistance, this is a reminder about the Test study session to be held by Fern and myself on
Monday, September 29 at 5:00pm, prior to Pharm.

The skills lab will be open for assessment practice Tuesday and Wednesday 8-12.
You will also be practicing in class Tuesday. If your partner cannot make it, we will hve a dummy for you.

Good luck to everyone,
Caralee

Hi Robyn,
Hope your feeling better soon.
Hi Mike,

Is there any way to get back the recent posts column? It was such a great reference to have on the left side of the page. Also Caralee Bromme would like an invitation to our blog.cbromme@deltacollege.edu Thanks!
Mike, I asked you where you found those diagrams for your notes today on assessment. I am not finding what you told me could you elaborate?
Gordon's 11 Functional Health Patterns

Hi all!
I am not sure if you are having a hard time finding these in our text so I Googled it! I love that place.

Okay here goes

1. Health perception and management
2. Activity and exercise
3. Nutrition and metabolism
4. Elimination
5. Sleep and rest
6. Cognition and perception
7. Self perception and self concept
8. Roles and relationships
9. Coping and stress management
10. Sexuality and reproduction
11. Values and beliefs

Those would go on page 74 of the study guide.

Good luck with the quiz today!!!

PDA Confusion

Are you looking for a PDA and confused about which kind to get?
Did you just get a PDA and do not know what to put into it?

This site belongs to Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine which has Recommendations for Handheld Hardware and Software for medical students and personnel. It is like a Consumer Reports for PDAs. They offer advice with regards to user friendly handhelds, tech support and troubleshooting.

http://handheld.medicine.dal.ca/index.htm
Hi guys,

This is for the tue & wed manteca group that just got moved to dameron. I'm @ dameron tue &wed 6:30-1:30. I'm willing to switch clinicals with anyone who wants the 6:30 to 1:30. I talked with Richard Sevilla and his fine with that.
Let me know
The ATI website for finding your scores is ATItesting.com/ NOT ATI.com as discussed in one of the labs yesterday. Then click on the "Students" tab and sign in. There is a menu on the left side and click on "view scores". Pretty easy. Now as to the interpretation of those scores...... (?) !!!! :)

Tuesday, August 23, 2005

Question: Can anyone tell me what the "story" is about the ATI "DVD's" ? The green note that came with the books mentions them. Anybody know?

Monday, August 22, 2005

Hey guys check out the CD that came with the nursing assesment book

If you are one of the right brainer, visual learner types like me, or are one of those," late night studying I need some more stimulation types "this is a fun and easy way to do practice questions. There is also a section titled," sounds", you can listen to different breath sounds and heart sounds. There is this one sound, I believe it is called stridor...you just want to jump through your screen and save the little barely breathing boy! So be careful with that one! :) smiles

See you all later!

Christine Moles
Attention:

I don't know if all of you have heard, but the Kaiser Hospital in Manteca has decided not to do clinicals this semester, leaving 10 students hospital-less. Mary Neville is working with other hospitals to see what she can do.

I am in the Kaiser clinical group, and this morning Mary informed us of this change. She is hoping to get a 1pm-7pm clinical at Dameron. (but nothing is set in stone yet...but most likely the Kaiser clinical group will be at a hospital in Stockton)

Soooo...my question for all of you is...could/can anyone be willing to switch with me? I would like to keep my clinicals on Tuesday and Wednesday...but could change?!?!? Maybe the evening shift would work out better for you? If you want it...it can be yours!! =o)

Like I said the evening Dameron shift is not a for sure yet...but Mary Neville was hoping that would work.

Let me know if you are interested...you can reach my on here or by my personal email...

Or by cell 209-204-1966.

Thanks!
