Hi Harrison
You will be here before you know it!

My suggestions for the last semester...

First off, there will hopefully be some much needed changes coming your way in the precept picking area. In Nursing 9 you have to get a preceptor, complete the hours, the daily journal and pass the exams. There are I think 2 midterms, there are no quizes, no make up grades...so you have to keep up on the reading.

N10 is more required hours, and alot of paperwork, daily journal, eco map and genogram etc. I can email you mine if you want something to look at.

N8 is OB. Alot of reading...use the syllabus, I dont think many read the book...I use it alot for the pictures...I am very visual learner, so that helps.

I took n9 and n10 together and am glad I did...get all the reqiured hours over with, then you can relax a little during OB.

Many students took 8 first. So they went to school w/ clinicals 3 days a week and had to find time, or fit in hours for their n10...but the same for taking 9 and 10...no matter how you take it, there will be a squeeze and you will be very busy fulfilling hours, requirements etc. The thing about 10 is that you have a longer period of time to get your hours. N10 lasts the whole semester almost.

I did my precepting at Dameron with Judy Cabrera, it was wonderful, I loved the feeling of being so close to RN...it is an awesome feeling to have 5 patients and feel so confident, so RN like :).

I wish you and all of you the very best...before you know it..it will be graduation time!

One more suggestion...take lots of pics, get your slide show person lined up to begin the work..it is ALOT of work trying to fit everyone in at the end...so get started now if yall can!

OH...and one more...the school doesnt give alot of guidance when it comes time to apply for boards, I asked that they make you all a packet...if you need help, feel free to email me rnstudychris@aol.com

take care
christine :)

I took N8 and N10 together and I've really liked how it worked out. I'm done with my preceptorship and have 3 1/2 weeks until graduation and nothing but study for the final.... VERY nice! Just a thought -Robyn

I also did 8 and 10 together first, then did twelve 12-hour days of precepting for N9 and have from now until graduation to work per diem and study at my leisure... i had been hoping it would work out this way, and it did, whatever you choose just remember that learning is a personal responsibilty.
